Hi, I’m pretty shy and I don’t really do public forums at all, but I love watches so I figured I’d join the community. I’ve been wearing watches since...
I didn’t understand it at first until I wanted to assemble my own mechanical, and it was an avenue to be able to do that easily bc the market is fairly robust. On the difficulty scale, this is not super difficult. I guess it depends on what your goal is for the piece - you get to control the quality bc you can choose what to buy, but you’re at the mercy of what’s available and manufactured. People who make truly custom pieces (who make their own parts) are really incredible. That’s a whole other ballgame.
Just wanted to return the favor since I’m new too! The G Shock square is probably my most worn watch since I bought it. I love that thing. I just recently got another one in all white.
Let me know if you have questions about modding. I’m not an expert but I can relay some know how.
Thank you! I haven’t used those kits, I kind of just built up enough tools and watched enough YouTube to be able to hamfist my way through some “repairs” to some old cheap Casios. I started with a screwdriver set and just took apart a cheap (broken) watch with it for fun. The real plunge was explaining to my wife why I spent so much money on tiny screwdrivers.
Thanks! Looking forward to sharing more from my collection/future projects.
