Replacement movement for Seiko 5 Superior 7S36-0140
Hi folks,
So I've got this "frankenwatch" from somewhere or the other. The thing is busted but I think it can be salvaged with a new movement.
The question is, which movement(s) can I put in this? It has a 7S36-0140, as you can see in the photo. Are there other 7S36 models that would work here? I don't see any 7S36-0140 movements available on eBay.

According to the WatchBase website the 7S36 has virtually the same specs as the common 7S26. Same diameter and both have day/date at 3 o’clock. Maybe research a 7S26?

There are other variants of the 7S36 movement out there as well. Do you think it would be better to try one of those before trying the 7S26?
I’m not sure. If you know a watchmaker I’d ask them. Otherwise you’re probably stuck with whatever research you can do. WatchBase or Caliber Corner might be useful, but I’ve not run across this type issue before.
One other source may be Lume Shot. He does lots of Seiko mod stuff.
That's cool. I figured it's worth asking since others here have probably successfully replaced Seiko 7S* movements.
Maybe I'll just take a chance with a 7S36 or 7S26 movement from eBay, that will fit this case.

The 4R36 swaps directly with the 7S36 but keep in mind: A. The plastic dial ring you have now will have to come over in most cases the 4R36 won't be quite right (but it could). Easy stuff B. Your existing stem will not work. You will need to remove the current stem, cut to length and fit up the new stem that comes with the 4R36 movement. C. If your current stem and crown is spring loaded there may not be a way to do step B above"
The current stem doesn't work properly. Day/date adjustment works but time doesn't. So I don't mind tossing that out.
The only valuable thing about this watch right now is the titanium case-back, assuming that's not fake!

This might be a silly question, but do the 7S36 and 4R36 movements only come in one size?
