Microscope worth it?

For the tinkerers and mechanics out there, have you invested in a microscope? If so, a few questions:

  1. What's a reasonable entry-level price? The range of prices is as wide as it is for watches!

  2. Which aspects of watch repair/maintenance do you find it useful for? As in, in what situations does it feel like a more appropriate tool than a simple loupe?

Overall, is it useful or is it more of a gimmick - for the beginner mechanic?

Thanks!

Yea I bought one for like 5 dollars at a thrift shop. Its helped me out several times identifying faults. For instance I had a hairline fracture of an electrical trace leading from a pusher contact to the chip in the PCB of one of my Casio CMD40s. The multimeter confirmed the fault

How did you fix that? Is that repairable??

I soldered a jumper strand of wire into the circuit, bypassing the break
