Which one would you add to the collection?

Having added Explorer II to my collection recently, I’ve started saving for the next.

My youngest kid will be graduating from university next year and starting his career. I will have accomplished my financial responsibilities for my kids. Well, unless he fails to graduate 😅

Perfect opportunity to buy myself something big to celebrate.

Because my current core collection of six covers every situation, I am not limiting candidates to any specific watch style or function.

If anything I want to fill in the hole I have after parting with Breguet Tradition 7097. I loved the watch but it grew too big on my wrist, which shrank a lot as I lost a lot of weight by hiking and running.

Also I want to add some colours to my mostly monochromatic collection. Green and brown are my favourite colours.

So far those two are the strongest contenders.

Please vote which watch would fit my collection better and help me fill the hole in my heart that 7097 left, and let me know why in comment if you can.

(Ignore the green strap on Traditionnalle if you don’t like it. I don’t like it much either. I will swap it with brown or grey strap.)

Also please let me know your thoughts if you have hands on experience with the watches, especially Traditionnelle, which cannot be found anywhere here in Tokyo.

Thank you for your help!

VC, you don't need GMT Master II after getting Exp II imho. My desire for the Pepsi GMT seriously disappeared after I got the call from my AD this Feb of the 226570.

Isn’t that a handsome collection. I think personally I’d go 7097, you already have a gmt in the explorer and the 7097 would be a lovely green addition, something you don’t have!

I don't see any reason to get a Rolex, similar to one you own, when a VC is the other option.

Objectively you are right. But my heart tells me those are at two extremes. Explorer II is a tool watch and I bought it for hiking and backpacking. I wouldn’t wear it around ice axes and crampons (I’ll be wearing Sinn) but otherwise I hike with it and don’t mind a few scratches.

But CHNR feels like complete opposite. I will baby it, probably more than any watch I have. Same for VC.

Thanks ! You mean VC, right? I’m not buying back 7097😂

I know😅 but to my eyes Explorer II is a tool and this particular GMT is a jewel 😊

Maybe a chrono?

You need both, I just got a GMT grnr grey bezel a couple weeks ago and it's been awesome, but that VC Traditionelle is another one I think is one of the best releases of last year... Or add a Submariner two tone maybe, you definitely need some Gold in your collection

You have four beautiful robust tool watches. I would get the dressier watch and go with the Vacheron. It is a stunning watch. The GMT is a good watch for sure but I’m not big on sticking gold into tool watches.

Not into chronographs. Only exception is Lange but theirs are out of my reach😂

I’m gonna hate Rolex forever if they put gold on Explorer II but I can happily live with gold on GMT😁 It was made for pilots and jet setters, never intended to be beaten up like Explorers and Subs. So it feels natural to me they have gold and/or jubilee.

Haha yes sorry I meant the VC.

The VC gets my vote. Great splash of colour and genuine class. I can see the appeal of a Pepsi GMT II, but have always preferred the aesthetic of the Explorer II as it’s more true to the tool watch origins both watches share.

It’s rootbeer, not Pepsi, so it’s even farther away from a tool watch😁 But that’s why I’m attracted to the watch😎
