Omega Genève Automatic 1965

This watch belonged to my grandfather. Should i keep it as it is or change the steel for a leather strap ?

Personally, I think Omegas of that era look great on a bracelet but feel free to live your bliss. That's the great thing about watches - you can swap back and forth from a bracelet to a strap when you get tired of one or the other! I love that watch, btw.

How about a bespoke lesther? I think having the option will prolong having the bracelet. Beautiful watch

It does look good on the bracelet but would look equally as good on leather. Sorry I’m really no help 🙂

Lovely watch by the way.

It's your watch now, and I think part of the charm is the 'signature' every owner leaves on an object, and not just preservation of how the first owner had it.

My own experience with my grandfather's Omega (very common experience apparently!) was that it had a bracelet, but it wasn't very comfortable for me and that led it to being very rarely worn. I also see-sawed on keeping it as-is, or getting a custom strap made. In the end I did order a strap, and hey presto! I'm wearing it very often now. I think that's far better than not using it at all, so my opinion would be to go with what you like better, and keep the original parts safe.

It's classic enough to go with various types of bracelets AND straps. My answer was gonna be "both," but now it's "try it with everything!" With that, that watch can fit practically all situations. (I wouldn't swim with it though hehe)
