losing the need to change
It's holiday season and I try to decompress after a long half of the year. We are in Italy at the Mediterranean and of course I questioned my watch packing heavily. I decided to bring a Garmin Instinct to work out and swim in the sea, a proper dive watch with Italian history (Citizen Promaster/ Marina Militare) and my favourite travel watch, a Seiko GMT.
During the long drive down south, I enjoyed the Seiko on its bracelet, but as soon as my nose caught the smell of salty air, I switched to the diver.
I wear it for almost a week now and the best thing I've noticed is, that I've stopped thinking about it. It just goes everywhere with me: under water, to historical places where the Romans lived, to restaurants and stays on my wrist while sleeping.
At home in Berlin, I think more about what watch to wear, what occasion asks for what watch and so on. It's just so different now, when the diver melts into my wrist and loses all the attention. It's just there and does what it does.
I also kept it on the rubber strap, it came with and reminds me of the Omega Plante Ocean, Daniel Craig wore in the first scenes of Casino Royale. The basic version of that watch and took it through all his all its paces.
I slowly begin to understand why the guys from The Grey Nato for example are die hard fans of dive watches and why they are so special.

Watches do not mean as much when you are visiting magical places especially on vacation. My wife and I are itching for a real vacation, I usually wear one watch for all occasions, maybe two if it is a cruise.

It's such a great watch. So simple and does the job well.
