Tudor Ranger Review: A pleasant surprise with minor improvements

Boring. That, too, was my initial reaction when the Ranger was released. Since its release in mid 2022, I never had the desire to take a look into the Ranger.

One day in April 2023, I was on transit and there was a AD at the airport and decided try out lots of watches while waiting for my flight. The Ranger was there, might as well, nothing to lose.

out of all the tudors, the royal and the ranger felt reaaaally good on my wrist. The Royal was too flashy for me tho, so I was unexpectedly hooked to the Ranger. It really changed my mind once I put it on my wrist. Alas, 1 month later in May, the Ranger arrived and I have worn it almost every single day as my everyday watch.

with a 39mm case, 47mm lug to lug, satin finish screw down case with 100 WR. It is the perfect Everyday watch for me.

And the legibility is just amazing. So easy to read because the “boring” part must be intentional. You simply won’t be able to tell the time incorrectly on the Ranger and I guess in essence, that’s what’s most important when you are out exploring.

the T-FIT clasp is uh-mazing! To be able to adjust within seconds is apparently so convenient.

I think if it has applied indices then you are better off with a blackbay, if it has more writings on the dial, get a pelagos, and if doesnt have enough shine, get the royal. This tudor is perfect for me because it just goes undetected, and probably the only place it is not natural is when I attend a formal event.

If a watch is a bit of a fashion statement, avoid this. But if you are just looking for a high quality built and movement with great wearability, I strongly recommend this.

I’ve taken it on hikes, rafts, swims (pool, lake, beach), flights, dinners, drinks, sleep, shower. And I simply just dont feel bothered at all in any situation because, that’s how we’re supposed to use our watches!

  • Comfy bracelet
  • Strap Monster
  • Highly Legible
  • Decent Priced
  • Do Anything Go Anywhere
  • Lume could be better
  • A slightly larger bezel would make this 39 true to size

Completely agree, I have tried on the ranger and tried to like it numerous times, but the plain flat dial on a 39mm watch just looks so lost, if they had applied indexes or made the dial smaller then I think the design would be awesome

Great review, couldn’t agree more. It is not a statement watch, it’s a high quality and high accuracy tool for time telling. Well proportioned case, very good bracelet and highly legible.

Some complain on the size but it’s a feature not a flaw. It is 39mm - perfect for some, too big or too small for others - just as any other watch. If Tudor make it 36 in the future it will be the same discussion over again - too small, too big go original 34mm etc.

Now the final bit - that of a boredom. It’s not flashy, but neither it’s boring. Mine was on an overland trip on 3 continents, in the mountains and at the ocean. I have it on my wrist almost everyday, working on my bike, sitting on a Teams call, on sheep herding sessions with my dog.

Accurate to -3s a week. It’s a good watch. No more, no less.
