Learning from Max

I enjoyed Max's last video. Being a well known name in the youtube community of watch enthusiasts he probably made the right choice: to focus on a small set of watches one really enjoys.

I've followed his journey as a collector through his videos and his collecting path makes sense to me. He tried out different pieces and quickly identified what works for him. A sort of value-oriented approach if you like.

The video made me think about my (more modest) approach to the world of watch collecting. In the last few days I was very much attracted to pieces like a Hamilton Khaki Field or to emerging / micro-brands such as Venezianico, Christopher Ward or Farer.

Max's video seems to give more focus to more heavyweights or classic pieces (Omega, GS etc).

This leader me to the question: is leaning to big names the natural progression of watch enthusiasts?

If one in just starting on watches would it be better to keep the urge for the next piece under control until a better piece becomes attainable? What do you guys think?

Think it all depends on the person,I've only come to realise since being on watch crunch I actually collect lots of other things not just watches🙄😬so normal person can buy a watch keep it be happy,or even live without one,us collectors research hunt buy enjoy, then on to the next target, the fact we aren't satisfied with one watch normally leads to a progression of climbing the luxury ladder to find greatness,or as in our world grail,so I would say as a collector yes this is the way,ask none enthusiast and the answer would be what do you need a watch for🙄🤣ask me and I just need three more GS first, spring drive and something else 😉 🤣😂👌

Definitely an honest answer. Thanks!
