1973 Seiko 7019-7210

This one today. Fully restored inside and out by by own hand. I have a passion for 70s Seiko and these facet crystals are incredible. It’s a shame they are not used now.

This era of Seiko was awesome. They were definitely leaning into the culture of the times.

This is a JDM ad for the Vanac line of watches, which were made during the same era with the same vibes.

As I’m sure you know those crystals are getting rare…and they’re not making any more. So good decision and enjoy it 👍🍻

That crystal is stunning. I bet it’s a nightmare trying to source a new one.

Timex have just re-released a 70s retro watch with a faceted crystal. Maybe Seiko will follow their example.

Yes the one on this one cost me £45 to replace

Good job!

The faceted glass looks great and create amazing reflections with the light and the dial but I guess it is not the best for legibility, right?

The famous "Vanec" style, now all you need is a disco ball!

What a beauty !

Stellar restoration! I restored mine a few months ago without replacing the crystal. My cuts are still not perfect. I use Japanese whetstones to cut each facet.

Fell in love with these prism-crystalled Seikos. Pain in the butt to restore the glass, but its worth the effort.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone restore a facet crystal before. Well done

Thanks! Laborious work but the result speaks for itself.

This was one of my earliest (and foolish) attempts, and I now know better to do a full case disassembly first and restore the crystal separately.
