WC help!

Hi guys and gals,

In a previous post I commented on the fact that I was trying to restore my dad’s old Wittnauer. I don’t think I have to do much other than a new strap and a battery (yes it’s quartz). Here’s where I’d like the WC community‘s help: I’ve been searching high and low all over the interwebz and can’t find a single thing about this watch. Would anyone here know anything about this particular watch?? It was given to my father for his 15 year anniversary at his job so that would be around 1989 or so.  Just curious about how much it’s worth, any other details on it would be helpful too. Not trying to sell it, just really curious.

If you look at the bottom of the dial, you can see something printed in teeny tiny letters. First what I think is the reference number SS2544 and behind it Swiss 9514 showing the watch uses an ETA 955.114 Swiss quartz movement.

I don't know anything about the history of the Wittnauer SS2544, but hopefully knowing the reference number helps you uncover all it's secrets.

Wow…thank you! That was a huge help.

Update: thanks to Olivier, I got some more info on the Wittnauer. Looks great, probably not worth more than $150 or so. I’m still keeping it for sentimental reasons but man, my dad got hosed on a gift!😂😂😂
