Strap question

I just got a watch (pictures to come after new strap) that I need to replace the strap on. I measure it as 17.5mm. Should I go with a 17mm strap or try to squeeze an 18mm on it?

18mm will be fine, much more selection too.

For a single pass:

If having difficulty installing the strap, mark on the strap where you want it, then just install it using a spring bar tool.

If case to lug gap is tiny, look into curved springbars.
