The EDC connection🛠️
So I'm not sure how my watch mania started. Which came first. So, I'm into cigars and pipes too. Maybe a saw a killer cigar/wristshot or maybe it was a knife in some cigarpost.
So that may have been the first seed. But I also went through a heavy existential crisis with a lot of catastrophy-thoughts and panic attacks caused by the responebility by being a father now.
This is when the prepping began 🤠 I was obsessed with being self reliant and able to take care of my family. And I did a lot of research 🥴 About Bug-Out bags and bunkers....
It never went that far. It was an exhaustive period, but I came out of it a bit more prepared and self reliant. And hooked on pocket knives and watches (the picture above shows my full Titanium Load Out 🦾).
I think I heard on a prepper podcast that a mechanical watch would be the best option in case of an EMP from a solar flare or nuke. Why I would need to tell precise time in a armageddon senario is beyond me, but my mind was blown 🤯 Do they still make mechanical watches?!
There is overlap between the prepper and EDC (everyday carry/useful stuff) community. Likewise with the EDC and watch community. So here I am. Ready to tell time and kick some zombie ass!! Are you?

Yes, a mechanical watch is what you want for an EMP/nuclear attack. In case of the latter, the sky will be so full of dust that you will scarcely be able to tell day from night, and you want to wait 2 weeks before emerging from your hidey-hole to allow the gamma radiation to decay to a non-lethal level, so you’ll need that watch (with date function). Then you can check for other survivors or to see if that new watchband you ordered somehow arrived in the mail.
