Is this a Resist/Water Proof, a Resist Waterproof, or a Resist/Water Resist? And what is the second digit on the serial? Sorry- having a nerd moment. 1970 was the transition between "Proof" and "Resistant" for Seiko and its cool to see the different combos by production months.

Oooo… I think you are one of the few folks who even know to ask those questions 😀. It is July 1970 Resist / Waterproof (one word).

Yours is amazingly clean, lume and hands are just perfect; aged, but have clearly not encountered even a molecule of water in the past 53 years and nine months. I assume it lived in a nice dark drawer for 30 of its years. Congratulations on an absolute banger!

Thank you, was fortunate to find it. There is a nice ding on the bezel at 11:15, but am totally ok with it. My preference is clean dial and hands and an honest case / bezel.
A fair bit of vintage Seiko, with some vintage Doxa, Rolex, Blancpain, Enicar, Benrus, Zenith, etc thrown in. Plus some modern stuff that strikes my tool / diver fancy.

The case shape looks very much like the temporary SPB317. I like yours a lot👌
The is a grail and a birth year. Double Grail.
