My watches from Technos, a Brazilian brand

From what I know, Technos has been on the market since the 1960s, so they have a bit of history here in Brazil. They used to be a Swiss watch brand that got their footing here, and later became a fully Brazilian company.

They are focused in entry level models, ranging from 300 reais (60 dollars) up to 1500 reais (300 dollars). They have some decent designs, but I heard about a model named the Skydiver/Skymaster (I don't remember exactly which) being a well appreciated model from the 90s, otherwise not much groundbreaking material, if I can so say.

The first watch is a quartz movement, fully golden plated, with the "chronograph" wheels displaying date/week date and a 24 hour marker. Changed it to a cheap, most likely temporary leather strap since the original metal bracelet has lost all the extra links.

The other one is a curious vintage watch, most likely from the 70s, in an automatic movement, golden dial and roman numerals. With a ~36mm dial, it is a wearable unisex model, and could fit in formal occasions just as in any daily occasions.

I wish I could point more on the model numbers, but Technos has a nasty and annoying habit of terrible catalogue practices - I have to use a magnifying glass to look what might be the vintage's reference number, however I have no idea how to search it up nor to confirm it. And even then, it is almost impossible to search for a model if they are not selling it at the moment.

Terrible catalogue discipline aside, I think Technos is a good brand to explore, at least in my limited budget. I noticed there are loads of interesting models they made that have long been discontinued, like an Alarmdate automatic watch, which I can find at the same watchmaker who sold me this vintage watch. However it is a true Terra Incognita to map out these classic or rare models.

That looks AWESOME. And it is one of their older models since they used this Serif font for the name, nowadays it is a sans-serif, modern typeface for their brand.

That is why I say getting a vintage Technos is a treasure hunt. There are dozens of models like this which has been lost, and it is a shame because there are some worthwhile designs from back then.

Well I've learnt something,I did think technos was an old Swiss company didn't know it relocated to Brazil. And maybe that's why I see them for sale on e Bay from South America,so thanks for the info. The vintage skydiver is a cool watch and I've seen a chrono that was off the charts,  I like  the vintage technos watches and hopefully one day have a couple in my collection.

Yes, it was a curious history, and I am also unsure why did they make such a move back in the day. Nowadays they have a large holding in Brazilian watches, they are all-present in any watch store you can find, and they also have lots of sub-brands that specialize in some markets, like Mormaii as a sports-focused watch brand - which started as a surf supplies brand for clothing, but when they started making watches, Technos was the one licensing the watches, and some time later, Technos bought Mormaii entirely and became a sub-brand.

There are also some other curious brands that either only exist in Brazil, or started in Brazil for some reason - like Orient having a specific South American sports-related sub-brand under the name X-Games, named after the extreme sports event. I know they sell some watches for cheap, and the owners are satisfied they are tough, but I would need to do more research into that case.

Thanks,I will do some more research myself, might end up a new avenue to go down.
