My first ever Seiko: a vintage ana-digi! (Coincidentally an "almost" James Bond watch too!)

From the same watchmaker that sold me the jewel of my collection - A Technos Alarmdate from the 70s - I got with him another hidden gem just lurking in the shelf: a discrete yet elegant anadigi watch from Seiko. Which is intriguing, since he is the only watch dealer in the city that sells Seiko watches, even more so vintage models like this.

Since I am a trustworthy costumer, he let me give it a wear for a bit, and I finally learned a bit on the story behind the "refurbished" bits of watches that only his shop has around: Some of the watches in the refurbished shelf are actually part of his old collection, which he is selling to raise a bit of cash. He does fix watches with a friend, but he also is selling some of his personal watches to move them on.

And I wanted to guarantee him the watches are getting to the right hands - also I can't miss the opportunity to get a rare watch for a bargain! For 280 reais, or almost 53 dollars, I could get my hand on it, and apart from scratches in the crystal it works perfectly (even the weird push-crown button I only knew about as I read the digitized manuals online 😂)

And from what I managed to find about this watch, looks like a model of the same line was used in a James Bond movie, it seems that it was used in "For Your Eyes Only". I am not a James Bond fan, but I have been seeing some connections to the movie series lately, mainly because my first ever collection watch, the Casio AE1200 "Royale" was more of a homage, but this one is the real deal. And I bet it is the only one around I would ever find!

Congratulations on a super cool acquisition. I'd love to find one of those - do you happen to have the reference number?

Surely so: the reference number is H357-505B.

As I have written, it is not exactly the model used in the James Bond movie, I don't know which one it is, but it seems to be of the same line of Seiko's anadigi watches from back in the 80s, and the previous owner, my current go-to watchmaker, was surely savvy to find one of these back then.
