The allure of the obvious: 38mm Khaki Field Mechanical

I’ve thought about this purchase, on and off, for more than two years. I wanted a time-only watch that wouldn’t break heart or bank if it got scratched and dinged, but the Hamilton seemed like too obvious a choice. Is there anything that hasn’t yet been said about this watch? Wouldn’t it be less predictable, and thus perhaps more satisfying, to look elsewhere? Ultimately the decision got pushed out while I acquired other watches that scratched other itches. I didn’t think about it for a long time. Then, a few weeks ago, I woke up and knew that the Hamilton was the right choice for me. (I’ll put it on the bracelet soon to see which option I prefer.) Perhaps this is the horological equivalent to Occam’s Razor: sometimes the simplest/most obvious choice is the right one?

I agree, some of these watches are popular/much talked about for very good reason, they are best in class. Leads to a lot of us having the same watches, though.
