Let’s talk about Deployant clasps

So let’s talk about Deployant clasps.  For years I bought and thought those butterfly style were everything in deployants.  Often uncomfortable, never fitting right and hugely bulky.  I just discovered the strapcode roller style, along with Breitling and Tag style for straps without holes.

does anyone swear by a specific deployant style? And do you have a good source for them?

By far and away my favorite is the "Bader" style deployant.  This is also often called the  "Omega" style deployant.

Effectively, it tucks the long end (loose end) of the longer of the bands under the deployant, which results in a) more cushion for your wrist, b) a layer that sits between your wrist and the metal deployant so you don't get metal sticking into your flesh, and c) a cleaner look.

The omega style clasp is great. I have one from Artem and a couple from random places. My issue with them is the setup and strap compatibility. Fitting a strap in can be difficult.

The Tag style ones are superb. Formex makes a clasp that's similar.

I think my favorite though may be the Richard Mille style that Artem also sells. It's a butterfly type but a bit more elegantly done I think and doesn't require buttons

I have a few of the roller styles from Strapcode, a few Omega styles from Artem, an on-the-fly micro-adjust from Formex, and I just got one from Longines that is basically the same as the Formex one.  All of these are the kind that tucks the extra strap under instead of on top. I look for straps that can be bought or made without the keepers or loops for a sleeker look. My favorite clasps are the ones from Formex and Longines.
