Chrome plating coming off on my 3133 chronograph

The actual re-chrome isn't expensive at all, I've had grab-handle bike parts chromed for £100. Paying a watchmaker to take it apart and put it back would be the bigger cost.
An alternative (and I don't know if this would be passable) is to pick up a fine nib chrome pen to touch it up.
It's a great watch so I'd still enjoy it in its current state anyway.

I was planning on having it serviced next year, so I’ll just have the jeweler re-chrome it as well. This watch has been in the family for 33 years (as well as being my first watch). This is the only watch in my collection I’m willing to spend more than it’s worth repairing.

Sounds like a good plan to me, and I'll definitely be looking to have mine serviced when they start to run poorly. The movement is gorgeous considering there's no finishing.

They really are good watches. Mine hasn’t been serviced since my dad got in in 1990 (and I doubt it was serviced at all before he got it), and it just now stopped telling the time accurately.
I know this is really bad to do to a watch, but I honestly didn’t want to spend the $600-$1,000 to service it until now. Maybe the fact he never wore it and just kept it in his safe until he gave it to me last year is why it’s lasted this long.
Changing the look of an heirloom watch spoils the vintage part. New looking old watches have less apeel.
