Epic fail with tiffany blue casio

Tried 2 different tiffany blue casio's, but both times decided to pass by because of the colour ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ I don't know, maybe I am colour blind ๐Ÿ˜… or too picky, but I want a pop of colour ๐Ÿฉต and this is not it. The stock images and the video reviews I watched showed brighter colours, but in real life both models seem to be just pale blue (more like baby blue, than tiffany blue shade) in my opinion. Decided to share my experience in case anyone finds it useful ๐Ÿ‘

Hmm that's interesting, shows how important it can be to try them on in person.

I feel your pain - not my colour but I can imagine the disappointment here.

I think that what is happening involves something along the following lines โ€ฆ

Tiffany Blue is a registered colour trademark (since 1998) and so reputable manufacturers canโ€™t use it. But in their marketing materials they will amp the colour up so itโ€™s very close knowing that - if challenged by Tiffany - they have good defences because the product isnโ€™t even close.

So a big part of you disappointment stems from misleading marketing raising your expectations.

Of course the community is responsible too as we all reference it as โ€œTiffany Blueโ€ even though it canโ€™t be โ€ฆ unless Tiffany sanction it. But the moniker is also fueling your expectations โ€ฆ which are then so cruelly dashed.

I know we all love this hobby but โ€ฆ there are bigger disappointments and bigger challenges in life. ๐Ÿ˜‰

P.s. I have had similar colour challenges with watches but luckily these were mainly on the upside โ€ฆ so far.

ยท

I suspect that the less reputable manufacturers probably get a lot closer to the colour โ€ฆ ?

ยท

You're not being picky, I agree, they look baby blue not Tiffany blue to me too.

I've seen shops whose web sites exaggerate the dial color. Like you, I look for actual images (not renderings) of watch on wrist of random people on the Internet for more accurate representations of the actual color but even then...

@SmudgedBezel makes a great point.

Wow, the ani-digi is way off.

The MTP is at least a bit closer.

I have to say, I agree and donโ€™t at the same time. I didnโ€™t think that they were perfectly color matched in the photos (something Casio is notorious for), but at the same time the in person photos you provided look exceptionally desaturated. Having seen both models in person, itโ€™s somewhere in the middle. Neither representation here looks totally accurate. Definitely one to see in person!

Totally agree, thank you for sharing โค๏ธ I don't even mind having different shade of blue, I just want it to be brighter, more vivid/saturated so to say... It is definitely not a tragedy, I'll keep looking for other pops of colour, maybe even totally different ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’œ I just loved the images and the reviews of those casio's and decided to try ๐Ÿ˜Š

I agree that seeing in person is the most helpful decision, especially when it comes to choosing colours. I took pictures with regular daylight for the #vintagecasio and even side by side with real tiffany blue color of my tiffany sunglasses case. The one I received is really pale blue. Maybe I received a fake, because I ordered it on Amazon, but the seller and the watch has great reviews... As for the second model, I took it in a watch store with artificial light, and my impression was that in the photo it looks more saturated than in real life. I didn't modify either my photos or stock images... Anyway, those are all subjective impressions. The only right conclusion, which you already shared, is to see the watch in person can be very helpful and important ๐Ÿ‘

I don't mind a different shade of blue or even different colour, I just want it to be brighter, so I'll keep looking ๐Ÿ‘

Donโ€™t worry I was just teasing on that.

Youโ€™ll see posts from me grumbling about not being able to find the right sized Speedmaster - no tragedy, trivial compared with real problems.

Thatโ€™s why this is a great forum as we are all talking about stuff that most of the world doesnโ€™t care about at all.

Our passion is definitely niche.

In terms of other colours I think there are some vibrant yellows around - as no one has trademarked those yet!

I did look on AliExpress and there were a few blues closer to Tiffany Blue and some even labeled Tiffany Blue. Not sure if you have ever looked there - obviously not high end watches but there are some fun watches to be had there (a lot are homages) - their sale runs until Monday (but sales come round fairly regularly). Appreciate sizing is an issue for you and not being able to try them for size (and colour) may rule it out.

If you do shop on AliExpress on buy from stores with a high number of positive reviews. I see a number of stores opening and closing after a very short period and assume these sellers donโ€™t deliver a service for which they value their reviews, so I donโ€™t touch them.

V best and enjoy the search

As said, Iโ€™ve seen numerous complaints about Casios inability to accurately display the color of certain models on their website. This even extends to the Oceanus range!

The lack of a sunburst effect on most Casio Tiffany dials can be a reason why: here is a turquoise version with a sunburst effect that looks very amazing. The Certina DS 7.

Without sunburst but still worth to be checked: the Casio MTP1302 line. There are other dial color versions however that do come with a sunburst like this wonderful bloody red :)

That was my experience with the square "TIffany" casio. It looks more blue, but decided to keep it. Casio's first "Tiffany" style watch from early last year (with the fluted bezel) might be closer to that color though. I found this pic online showing it side by side with the square and it seems like it might be slightly more green. Also came in two different sizes.

It sure is a baby blue, a tiffany blue has darker and greener tints
