Indulge me. One reason I got hooked into watches last year was the interesting facet of stories attached to watch ownership.
I struggle mentally with exaggerated insecurities as a husband and father. With this hobby, i hear comments like, "why did you buy another watch?" and I see eyes roll when I watch another YouTube feature. For my 55th born-day a couple days ago, the wife and kids got me the retro-design Swatch and I'm taking it as an, awww...affirmation.
The Timex was owned by my best bud, who I lost last year when he got his second stroke. His only son, my godson, asked me 2 weeks ago during his college graduation, if I wanted anything of his Dad's before he moves back to his hometown. I passed on his cameras, pen collections, and RC buggies. I chose his messenger bags (we biked a lot) and his watch.
He was supposed to turn 60 today, so I double-wristed to church in our honor.
