Sometimes "barn find" can be amazing. (Update)

Found this Turtle on a local market on a pile of some random crappy watches near the local watchmaker I frequent is located. The seller wanted 150 dollars equivalent for it, so I took a plunge.

Bracelet clasp is starting to degrade, which is kinda no big deal since I think this requires a rubber strap anyway due to the weight combined with the watch feeling heavier than full metal G-Shock 5000.

A tropical rubber would do nicely.

(Update: seems like this one was a fake. Oh well, I guess it was a lesson. I'll think of $150 as the repair fee for my Falcon. Maybe I'll shoehorn an actual NH36 to make it at least run a real Seiko movement 🥲)

It's actually a Coke Turtle, but I see your point! 😁

·

How do you come to that conclusion?

·

Seiko SRP789. They made the coke variant for a very short time.

And was also only available only for Asian and Australia market.

·

$150 for this model is a steal. The coke variant Turtle is quite pricey if you find a used one online.

The whole watch is a fake I'm afraid.

Its not fake. This model was never released for Europe and US.

The coke variant was exclusive for Asia and Australia market. Released in 2018 and discontinued in 2019, was produced for very short time.

It's a fake 100%, Seiko have never put a NH35 movement in any of their own watches. The bracelet is fake too, as is the crown. The rest of it probably is as well.

·

Yep, that's a real one. Yours is a fake.

·

I guess it's a lesson of doing research.

I'll see what I can do with it. Maybe putting in actual NH36 lol

@kudokun He is right. Now I see the NH35 on the dial, Seiko never prints NH35 on their own watch dials. Its always 4R35.

Yeah I see that (although it says 36 instead of 35)

Pop the caseback and see. It already has a NH36/4R36 movement since it has a day/date function. NH35/4R35 is day only.

On the movement rotor if it says 4R36 then you may have a original watch watch but with aftermarket dial and maybe extra parts.

I actually meant to type NH36, Seiko make both and sell them to whoever wants them. They are unbranded versions of the 4r movements, so still decent. Fakers often use the two for their Seiko efforts.

I don't have the right tools for it, so that'll have to wait. 😂

It does have the typical NH winding feel and sound that I've known from other NH watches that I own, so it does seem to be an NH36 at least. 😜
