Acrylic Watch Face and Polywatch

I managed the graze the face of my Cabot Watch Company G10. Thankfully I’d read up on this happening and had a tube on hand for this watch and my 1970’s Bifora. Polywatch is a fantastic product, easy to use and to finish of the shine on the face. I wouldn’t- not buy a watch with an acrylic face- knowing that this brings back the as new appearance. However for watches that would be subject to constant aggravation I’d definitely wear a sapphire glass watch.

Thanks. If/when I run out of Polywatch I’ll try some ✌️

I use paint compounding paste. It works as well.

Exactly. Not a perfect process. I do like the “repairability” of the plastic crystals, but I have yet to ever have a single problem with a sapphire crystal. I know there are sapphire haters out there, but for me I just have more confidence in it.

I don't hate either.

Wear plenty of both.

I will say the glare off sapphire, especially the ubiquitous flat variants seen on a lot of tool watches, are quite a bit more annoying to read and deal with when in bright sun. Also sapphire seems to smear/smudge easier but again that's more of an annoyance.

But surface scratches and swirls don't detract from the readability to me, in fact I really only notice them when taking pictures.

Yes. Good photography does tend to highlight imperfections. Probably an advantage for me of being a very poor photographer 😁😉
