Checking out the Omega Boutique today.

First time posting. First time wearing an Omega. I have a small collection of mainly <$200 pieces. Citizen, Seiko, Orient, AliExpress deals. A little large for my danty wrist but the quality really made me reconsider my price ranges. Thinking about stepping into the $1,000+ range. Suggestions?

Welcome to the crunch. There are so many good watches around $1,000. What style of watches do you like? Are you OK with micro brands?

I think instead of price ranges you should buy watches that you simply like. Obviously get what you can comfortably afford but there's no reason to stick to +1000 or always bargain watches.

Yes and yes. I do tend to gravitate towards divers and chronographs. I’ve bought a few dress and fields but based on rotation, it’s clear I have a subconscious preference toward thoss two.

A good starting point would be Christopher Ward.

Trident Pro looks like a killer. I’ll give them a look. Thanks 🤙

I was going to suggest Christopher Ward as well, Baltic also have some nice divers and chronographs in that price range. For more mainstream brands maybe look at Mido and Certina, the benefit with them being that you might be able to try them on first. Le Jour have some nice automatic chronographs in that range as well.

Thanks. I was taking a look at Baltic at one point. That reverse panda Tricompax 😮‍💨

I'm a Christopher Ward fan but also look toward Longines , Tudor, Sinn, Maen and Ball. Some of these you can find used or grey for around $1k. Japanese watch dealers have good stock with great deals

I know it's not the same in any way, but as a fan of the speedmaster, i have looked into Serica's design language and found it to have a hint of the same vibe. Maybe it's the wired lugs, broad arrow and 12h marker that throws me as an omega, but looking at it it's still it's very much its own thing. Now, for me at least, Serica makes the watches I wished Omega did, with still a strong identity but cheaper lol. My new buy will be a 5303 which in my head is what if a Speedmaster was a dive watch. Again, very personal opinion, after looking at both in the metal, i prefer Serica to Omega. 1k to 2k range if you're interested.

Buy used.

I paid £1300 for my early quartz Omega Aqua Terra. The perfect GADA...

For $1,500 - $1,750, you can start finding some of the smaller Speedy's - the Speedmaster Reduced. Save your money and snag one of those!

That’s a good recommendation. I need to research the reduced speedy!

I’ll take a look. Beautiful piece regardless

Longines is a great place to start.... Oris is another....

Purpose, Closer are two I have bought from that have good reputation. There are more. My advice is to Google and check for a physical shop. I try to avoid the Japanese dealers that are online only.
