Hmm, love the dial of the GS but not the case which to my eye seems a bit bloated (and this actually bugs me with a lot of GS's). As a result, I'd go Rolex.
From trying both I prefer the Rolex, as in wrist feel. Dial definitely goes to gs. That being said if it’s not fit for long time wear; it’s not a watch for me.
I bought the blue dial OP41 but chose to sell it in favour of the 36mm. I just found the 41mm too big & sold it within 6 months of buying. The lure of the OP in blue was just too strong though & I bought the 36mm 6-8 months after the original sale.
The Grand Seiko Cherry Blossom is a far more interesting watch & based on my experience of GS, will be finished to a higher standard than the Rolex. The Cherry Blossom doesn't appeal to me but I can understand why you may love it, I'm sure the dial looks incredible.
I suppose it's down to the usual factor when Rolex are in the mix. Is the kudos, cache of owning a Rolex more important to you than another brand, not held in the same regard by most, but offers a more beautiful watch? That's a decision only you can come to.
I know what you guys mean, I struggle with Rolex- I feel compelled to have one in the collection but I’ve had 3, and have sold each one because they just haven’t excited me.
The 36mm option is interesting, if I did that I think I’d go with a 1601 DJ and find something a little more unique if I can.
I’ve had the same struggle with the Cartier Santos- a really interesting watch, but part of me thinks I’m being overly attracted to the brand name.

GS Cherry Blossoms x 10000000000

I’ve got both brands in my watch box, although not these watches, so no bad choice here that I can see. That said, if it were my money? Grand Seiko.
But, it ain’t my money. So let us all know what you decide…and pics when you get it!

Rolex
Tough choice. If you go OP, go 36mm

I’ll pick GS 😬 the OP blue is not my taste but if it’s red or yellow dial then i will change my mind 😉
OP, absolutely no contest. GS has awful dial and clumsy PR dial.
