My mom has asked for help to get a watch for my dad. Their 50 year anniversary is coming up. The brief from my mom is “vintage motorcycle”. After some back and forth, she’s thinking clean/classic design on the watch (no color, chrome, black, leather) and a cuff / bund strap. Price point is $500. The rough style she was thinking is the photo above.
I’m leaning towards a simple field watch and getting the strap to finish the look.
What would you recommend? How would you approach the brief? :)

You could try to find a bullhead chronograph and put it on a a bund strap to create something like the watch Brad Pitt wore in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Perhaps a Citizen Tsuno or a Red Star Mechanical Bullhead Chronograph.

Fantastic suggestion!!
Depending on your budget
Hanhart 416 on a bund. As used by Steve McQueen during the ISDT Endurance race.
Breitling standard or Triumph Top Time.
Tissot do a few moto go collaborations
Smiths used to make gauges for cars and motorcycles, their watchs could be worth a look on time factors website all thou ordering can be a nightmare.

Dang that Hanhart is beautiful. Wish we could go high enough in the price-point for the Breitling Top Time as I love that watch (though, I was able to buy him a pre-owned Breitling Premier for his 70th birthday - so he's at least got that end of luxury covered).

The Hanhart would be top on my list
How about a Flieger. I love the look. Old school aircraft (read engines in your case), simple, utilitarian.
Persally I like the type B better but an A might work better for her ask.
Put in on the bund strap.
(I have my eye on a bronze one, personally)
Edit: pics are example. I didn't price this particular make. Just suggesting Flieger style in general.
Check out Detroit Mint Watches, they have silver and gold bullhead chronographs. Mecaquartz are ~$250, automatics $400. They also offer bund straps for them in black and brown for $40. They are a cool vintage inspired watch company.
For something more budget friendly and with top time vibes.

Simple field watch and bund strap does sound a good way to go. New something like a Hamilton Field Mechanical, maybe in black PVD. Fits the $500 brief. CWC watches also worth a look.
Or a similar actual vintage field watch from the 60s, not sure on prices of those (e.g.Bulova, Hamilton etc)
