Bulova MIL-SHIPS-W-2181

Here's another watch with some real American heritage. It's the Bulova Mil Ships reissue. It came out a few years ago and was based on a prototype that was developed for the Navy back in the late 1950's but never commercially released. I love the extremely domed crystal, the classic dive watch layout, the color of the indices, and the cathedral hands. Some reviewers complained about the strap and movement (a Miyota 82S0). I actually really like the reinforced nylon nato strap. It's really comfortable and the 16mm width makes it unique. Regarding the movement, I only paid 500 bucks for mine, so at that price I really don't have a problem with an 8 series caliber. Plus, it's just such a cool looking watch. It's one of those times, like with my quartz Cartier, where it's more about the design than the movement. And with the faithful design here from Bulova's archives, they really knocked it out of the park.

I agree. This is a very nice watch with history. I think of you can get your hands on one at a nice discount (yours at $500) then it's a good buy.

Looks good. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with how cool it is. I tried one on at Macy's and it looked amazing, I was thinking about buying it but stopped myself. I am one of those people that wasn't crazy about the strap, but the watch itself is beautiful.

I do love the watch but - per your comments - the 16mm does limit the strap choices. I have mine on a nice silicon rubber strap and it’s v comfortable.

The ONLY reason I haven't picked one up off the 'bay is strap width.

Waaaay to many 20mm to start collecting 16mm too.

Not to mention my favorite strap brands don't have many, if any, options at 16mm.

Still fantastic looking watch! 🔥🔥
