Swatch X Centre Pompidou

Here's another fun and affordable Spring/Summer watch. It's the Swatch X Centre Pompidou, specifically the Carousel by Robert Delaunay model. It's a collaboration between Swatch and the Centre Pompidou Museum in Paris. Lately, Swatch has been doing collaborations with museums and galleries, and I think the watches look really great. This one is sold out. But right now, they're collaborating with the Tate Gallery in London, and they have some fun watches inspired by Matisse and Chagall. I remember buying my first Swatch in the 80's, and I really loved that watch. I even bought a Swatch Guard for it! And as a lover of art, I really like that they're collaborating with museums and galleries and coming up with some fun, colorful designs. Most watch enthusiasts know the story of how Swatch, under CEO Nicolas Hayek, saved the Swiss watch industry. Swiss watchmaking was in turmoil back in the 80's. Almost no one wanted a mechanical watch if it wasn't a Rolex. But then came Swatch, which regained lower market share and gave higher-end brands a chance to regroup and come back. And I'm glad they did! I own and enjoy a lot of Swatch Group watches now, including Omega, Longines, and Tissot. I love Swatch for what they did and the fun they continue to offer. But what do others think of Swatch?

Love Swatch. Would be even better if we could get these fun dials in metal cases.

I've been able to pick up a few with steel cases both older and modern.

The older steel Swatch Irony Chronographs are cool and I've also been eyeing the modern Power of Nature series.
