Mainspring winder for Citizen Bullhead cal. 8110A, need help

Recently I bought an old vintage Citizen Bullhead cal. 8110A in order to restore it by disassembling, cleaning and assembling it. I consider it a challenge for me -I am nothing but a hobbyist-, but I will make it with tons of patience and good tools. Now I am with the barrel and the mainspring. The best way to do it is open it, take the mainspring out, clean it, lubricate the inside of the barrel and finally put the mainspring into the barrel again. I am stuck in this step because I don’t know which mainspring winder is suitable for this caliber. It is easy to find in the Internet winders for ETA calibers, but I can’t find someone who reveals me if they (and which type of them, because there are many) will work with my watch or they won’t. The mainspring turns to the left. Please, could you help me with this issue? Could you tell me which winder do I have to use and where to find it?

I'm not the guy to ask, but my initial thought is to just source a spare movement with a working mainspring?

Very cool watch BTW!! Had one for a brief second last summer 🤪 Regret selling it...

Hi Joaquin. 😊

What they do exist, as you've noticed, are sets of mainspring winders usually for multiple ETA calibers/sizes. I don't remember ever seeing any spring winders with different numbers than 0000 to 15.

I believe you have two options: buy a specific mainspring winder for your case or buy one of those sets with multiple sizes. The task, as you've already noticed, involves a lot of research.

In both cases, the mainspring winder should have at least one 'drum' with an external diameter that fits your barrel and an arbor/handle with a diameter that fits in the first spiral of the spring (without becoming loose and without forcing it open) and with a correctly positioned hook to the left in your case.

I suggest that you see the Bergeon data sheet ( https://www.bergeon.swiss/synchronisations/pdf/7023%20A%20B%20C.pdf ) to have a reference to the numbers and parts used and the corresponding dimensions.

For example: the mainspring winder nr. 2 must fit a barrel with 6.5 mm in diameter. See also that the numbering is the same for both directions of rotation.
