A little help

Iโ€™m considering to get a CW Trident, but Iโ€™m not sure if I should go for the 38 or 40 mm. My wrist is 6.5 inches or 165 mm (real not exgerated ๐Ÿ˜‚) so I was wondering if I could have some help from our friendly community trying to decide and maybe see some pictures from the lucky ones who already have one

165cm wrists are HUGE! ๐ŸคฃYou should go 400mm.

Kidding.

You have a typo there, missed out the decimal.

At 6.5inches, Iโ€™m inclined towards 38mm.

Sorry about that. And thanks for your opinion ๐Ÿคœ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿค›๐Ÿผ

Ive got the 38mm and a 6.5" wrist and I think it is a perfect fit, 40mm would have been too big for me.

ยท

Definitely 38mm. Well you asked. ๐Ÿ˜

ยท

38mm

ยท

With a 6.5 38mm should fit well

ยท

Always go with the smaller option. The bigger one just takes up more space.

ยท

I say 38mm should work well for you.

ยท

When in doubt, go smaller

Youโ€™re absolutely right, looks like it was made for your wrist ๐Ÿ”ฅ

ยท

For a 6.5inch wrist, the 38mm would probably be the right size for you.

ยท

I Only own one christopher ward and it's the c60 tide which is a 42mm. On my 6.75 inch wrist it wears well although i think it is on the heavier side. For your 6.5 inch wrist i believe a 38mm would wear better, but if you are into a little chonk on your wrist a 40mm wont be too much

ยท

My wrist is 6.75" and I would go for the 40mm. I have a hammy khaki in 38 and it is just too small.

I love that CW, been considering in getting it but the one I like has the red trident seconds hand and it is difficult to get. Great watch, great brand.

40mm

40mm

You have been the only one that said 40. I would like to know why. I was considering the 40 at first, but so many people saying to go 38 is making me hesitate now ๐Ÿ˜…

ยท

I have the same wrist size and look for the same watch, my pick will be the 38mm.

In fact, that is why for now I tend to choose the Trident over the C63 39mm which is 46.5mm l2l

ยท

38mm would be my preference. The Trident has a very thin bezel compared with other dive watchs or even the MK2 version making it look larger than it is on the wrist.

The Sealander GMT is similar 39mm but looks more like 42mm

I have a 38mm Trident Pro 300 with a 6.5 to 6.75" wrist.

The dial real estate is a bit smaller than most divers due to the inner metal ring between bezel and glass.

However I was aware of this going in. I was looking for a smaller diver compared to my Unimatic which wears larger as 40mm diver.

A 38mm is perfect and compact for me but the 40mm I have heard wears more like a traditional diver (read: larger dial estate). The lug to lug on either one is negligible.

I think that the lug to lug of the 38 mm would be perfect for my wrist, but Iโ€™m afraid that the watch it self is going to look too small because of the bezel and inner ring as you said

Yea its hard to gauge sometimes. Even with the 60 day trial for CW, it's still a hassle to send something back.

The L2L as another person has pointed out is 45mm (38mm) or 47.5mm (40mm) and for me, anything under 50mm, would fit without an unsightly overhang.

My feeling is that a 40mm would give you the larger dial face you're looking for in other divers. But small can also be good but would take time to adjust.

One far shot to see it on my wrist sans the zoom. I wish you luck in your choice and to be honest, you really can't go wrong with either size, the trident pro 300 is indeed a pleasure to wear.

Hereโ€˜s the 40mm on my 165mm wrist. For me personally it looks and feels perfect. However, the majority of people would probably go for the 38mm here.

At first I was considering the 40 mm too, but now after so many people saying 38 Iโ€™m struggling a bit trying to decide ๐Ÿ˜… Btw the atoll version is such a cool and fun variation ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

This might be an unpopular opinion, at 6.5inch which is the same as my wrist size I would almost always recommend 38mm with the exception being dive watches. Thick dive or timing bezels make the watch face look smaller in my eyes and I always go a little bigger with those, on the other hand with dressy or field watches I go 38mm or even smaller. The L2L on the 40mm trident seems to be 47.5 which I think would be perfect for a dive watch at this wrist size , the 38mm L2L is 45mm which is less than the Hamilton khaki auto 38mm at 46mm L2L . I know itโ€™s a tough choice when you canโ€™t try the watch but maybe try something else with those dimensions from any other manufacturer and see how it feels ?

That is exactly was I was thinking to do. Thanks a lot man!

Congratulations! I would love to see some wrist shots once you get it ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

๐Ÿ˜˜๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿผ chefs kiss! It really looks perfect. I have been wearing my Seiko 5 SRPE too much lately because I really like the dimensions of it, itโ€™s a 40 mm in diameter and has a L2L of about 44 mm so I find those dimensions very comfortable for an everyday watch (for my wrist of course).

So maybe the 38 is the one for me ๐Ÿค” Iโ€™m still a little scared about it looks too small because of the bezel, but I can see that is not as thick as in other watches, so the 38 is taking the lead for now ๐Ÿ˜…

ยท

The size compared to your wrist should be what you like despite others views. I have the CW C63 39mm on a 7.5" wrist. See pic for reference, but go for what you like ๐Ÿ˜Š

Image
ยท

If my wrist were 6.5" I would go with 38mm in this case. My wrist is 7.3" and I would go with the 38mm for myself also. Whichever you decide I'm sure you'll love that beautiful watch.

  1. Itโ€™s not a dress watch so getting a bigger size wonโ€™t hinder it and will make the watch feel more substantial.

  2. When factoring in the bezel on the 38mm watch you are left with approximately a 36mm dial which is kinda of small for my taste.

  3. The 40mm has a lug size of 47.45 vs the 45 mm on 38mm. Both will fit your wrist so why get a smaller dial?

  4. You are adding .3 in height if you opt for the 40mm so again there is no real advantage in getting the smaller watch when factoring in height.

  5. As a side note, unless the watch is excessively big (45mm) or small (34mm) people make too big of a deal regarding dial size.

  6. CW has a good return policy, you can perhaps order both and do a side to side comparison and return one. It will add shipping cost back to CW on your purchase but might be justified if you are really on the fence. Hope this helps.

If you like that look, maybe get a Tag Heuer formula 1 quartz instead.

Even though it's only quartz, it's more handsome and will hold its value better over time.

38mm dial for a 6.5 in will look small on you and will look womanly (though there is nothing wrong with that look). Also, if you gain weight and your wrist become fatter, a 41mm or bigger dial will look just about right.

Naah, I have a 6.25" wrist and the 40mm version ant it looks fine. Would've gone for the 38mm if I had the chance but it doesn't look bad at all.

Getting a Tag Heuer will go exactly in the opposite direction of what Iโ€™m looking for that is good value for money. Iโ€™m not a huge fan of quartz either and Iโ€™m not planning on gaining any weight ๐Ÿ˜‚ But thanks a lot for your comment dude

Your wrist is probably flatter, mine is quite round
