[Question] Is some creaking noise in butterfly clasp for a new watch expected?

Is some creaking noise in butterfly clasp for a new watch expected?

I just purchased a new ~$850 USD retail price Citizen watch from ebay Japan. This watch comes stock with a leather strap and butterfly clasp. However, I notice there is occasional (not always), soft creaking noise as I bend the clasp hinges. For example, I hear this noise as I bend the clasp hinges to take the watch on and off my wrist. This is my first butterfly clasp so I am not sure what to expect, but other watches I've handled with similar clasps dont seem to have this issue.

Is this occasional noise expected given the price point? Could this be something that occurs because it is new and will quiet over use?

A deployant clasp? I’ve heard claps on leather straps do that before, particularly on new straps.

Is it the clasp or the leather you’re hearing noise from.

The noise comes from bending the hinges of the butterfly clasp. So yes, the hinges of the clasp.

If it bothers you, maybe exchange it. I have 5 butterfly clasps, none of them makes noise.

Most of my leather straps make squeaky noise but it's at the lugs where the edge paint rubs against the case. I have also had bracelets squeak from new. Even a modern Rolex Oyster 😮 but it was no match for WD-40 😏 a bit of that and even the poor bracelets become quite nice.

a tiny drop of silicon will fix that.

Just an update that the noise resolved after several weeks. Likely due to newness and needed to be broken in.
