Seiko Titanium Chronograph SNAB89P1

13 years ago I bought this watch new. At around $500, it was a big deal back then.

However, I think I'm the only one who bought one, as I've never seen another in the field or for sale. In fact, a quick G' image search, and my pics here are the only real-world pics out there of the SNAB89P1 (try it). How?

Anyway, it originally had a dull, matte finish to the titanium, which I liked at time of purchase. I'm 'bling shy'.

Well I recently I took a Dremel tool and some polish to it, and I'm still not sure if I've ruined it. It was a dull matte finish before, now very shiny. Seems it was coated.

I must say, I don't hate it's new look. Hoping the shine dulls a little though.

Update 03/Sept; now much prefer it. It was an odd move by Seiko to coat the subdued rich oily luster of solid Titanium. With a new appreciation, the watch is in my regular rotation again. Super light titanium, and only 9mm thick.

First pic is before, the rest after polishing. And one press shot to show orig. dull finish.

Nice Seiko. Looks cool. One way to mod a watch. 👍🏻 🍻

That's a cool watch in general! Looks good polished too. I have a titanium citizen that is the same dull gray, it looks like it should weigh a lot but it's weirdly light so it's definitely titanium.

Same. Weighs nothing.

Those after polish pics are crazy.  It's a very different and interesting look.  It changes the feel of the watch, but certainly didn't ruin in IMO.

No, I don't hate it. Definitely taken off some kind of coating though. Hope it dulls a little.

With a 7" wrist I'd normally not consider a 45mm, but because it's only 9mm thick, has no lugs, and case & bracelet are moulded as 'one', it fits me well. One of my better wearing watches actually.
