My first pocket watch

As the watch interest continues to grow, I finally started diving into pocket watches, and man am I happy.

Won this beautiful Hamilton pocket watch in an auction a couple weeks back. Serial number dates it back to 1947. It鈥檚 14k gold filled.

It holds the time well, easy to wind up and easy to set the time with the crown.

If you haven鈥檛 looked into pocket watches yet, or is considering it, just do it and trust me, you won鈥檛 regret it!

Hello! That's interesting to hear. I've tried to look online, but I feel like all charts and websites disagree with time periods for serial numbers, and how many watches that actually were produced. The serial number on mine reads to X135242

Very sorry posted the wrong chart , enjoy your watch

I love how those numerical markers have unique style with no hindrance to legibility. A replacement crytstal should be a fairly simple affair. I don't know if you chose the chain or not but I like those larger spring rings for their ability to go around either a belt loop or through button holes.

I鈥檓 definetly looking into getting a replacement crystal. The chain came with the watch, and the color is pretty much spot on, so I鈥檓 really happy with it. However, I will look into chains with large rings. Thanks for the tip! 馃槉

Nice! My first pocket watch was actually my grandfather鈥檚 Hamilton. Not sure of the year of production or when it was acquired, but near as I can tell it鈥檚 over a 100 years old. My Dad passed it down to me a few month ago. Actually just sent it off for service and repair to bring it back to good working order. Can wait to get it back.
