Adventures in Watch Making #1
Last month I did my very first service on a vintage Rotary Watch I picked up. With such a positive outcome I stepped up the difficulty and decided to restore a watch that has always been on my radar, a Seiko Helmet ref: 6139-7101. It took a lot of time and effort hunched over my kitchen table cursing so much at every failed step and sudden jolt that caused any sort of unexpected movement making me start over. Had to buy a donor watch, 2 new crystals (broke one on my first attempt installing it), new mainspring, and new hand set since the originals were toast. All in all I’m very happy with the results and the challenge and can’t wait to show my next project watches I’m currently working on.
Watches are my hobby, passion, and a great distraction from work. I’m glad to finally share a platform with others that have the same addiction as I do.
