Not needed in this day and age of appropriate lug width strap options.
One of the reasons for the second strap was to center your watch head..also used to be you kept same strap even when your unit upgraded to the new-fangled "large" 18-20mm dive watches 😂.
I use them as intended, there's always the danger as I reach for the biscuits or tea at mach 2, whilst in my armchair, that the G forces may destroy a spring bar😱 Then the watch would hurl into the dist....... my slippers, OK, OK slippers.

Never known the difference between Nato and Zulu. I just figured out that there is single and double pass too 😂
