Tried the Gripsolvent Trick

I saw a video on removing bezel inserts a while ago, and I think it was Marc from Long Island Watch in this video who first popularized it.

For those who have not removed a bezel insert, it's usually held in place with a double-sided adhesive tape in a circular shape. You can pry it off, but there is always a chance to bend the bezel insert, and to do it right, you'd have to remove the bezel.

In this case the watch was to rest upside-down for a day in a small amount of grip solvent. And I was curious how well it worked.

In summary, it was super easy and the bezel insert came right off. This is a ceramic bezel insert, and they will break and shatter quite easily if too much for is applied.

The tape remained intact and could be pulled off easily with tweezers, and the remainder of the adhesive, saturated in solvent, could simply be wiped off. (In contrast to a previous removal of a bezel insert on the same case, that left some slight markings on the bezel.)

So yes, this trick does works, and is even easier than I had anticipated.

Which grip solvent did you use?

I used "Birdieblast" grip solvent, which was around $5 on Amazon. (This would be more solvent than you'll ever need.)
