In Your Honor, Dad.

Remembering you fondly today, on the 3rd anniversary of your passing away.

Your choice of this Citizen 1030-R11008 dress watch speaks so well of your eye for detail and quality.

The gold case, applied indices, handset, and minimal text is stunning, amidst the equally amazing black ceramic dial. I love how the handset reflects on the dial at certain angles.

The more I gaze on it, the more I'm impressed by its class, elegance, and depth of character. Simplicity indeed speaks volumes.

It's so much like you, Dad. You were a man of simple class, elegance, and depth of godly character.

Thank you very much for entrusting this piece to me. I will endeavor (and hope) to become more like you in the coming years that will be given to me, even if it's just a fraction of who you are.

I love you up to Heaven and back, Dad.

Very classy piece.

Totally agree, sir. 💯

·

Classy piece, and with the story behind it even classier in your eyes @hakki501. Hard to beat these handed down watches, so much more than timetelling boxes for those who own them

·

I still remember your beautiful piece honoring your mom. You were very blessed to have had Godly parents. I wish I had one of my dad’s watches - he always wore a Seiko.

·

So glad you have your father's watch. Mine passed 10 years ago and I'm still searching for it.

·

As somebody who had a less than stellar father, I appreciate you. Thank you. (The watch is beautiful too!)

·

Very poignant post 😢

Yes, my friend, my Mom entrusted to me her dress watch, and she designated it to be her gift for my future wife, should I get married again. I wear it for a short while during her birthday and her death anniversary. Indeed, what a blessing to have godly parents.

Perhaps you can try to recall what model Seiko your Dad wore, and then you can try to find one. For sure it'll be a vintage piece. Or, you can get a similar Seiko in his honor. It's always good to honor our parents. 💯

Yes, I'm glad too my Dad passed it on.

Do you remember what model and brand of watch your Dad wore frequently? Just like I mentioned to @Architime, perhaps you can find a similar one, in your father's honor.

Thank you very much, mate. I'm glad that somehow this post was an encouragement. Do know that I understand somewhat how you feel re. a not so stellar father. Thanks for your honesty.

Thanks too, the watch is indeed beautiful.

Your father had classic choice 🫡. He'll be happy and in peace. 🙏

Yeah, he chose a classic one indeed.

Dad's watch is always the best watch in the collection. As much as I like the rest of my pieces, Dad's Seamaster Chronograph from '73 will always be THE one I could never get rid of, unless I give it to a nephew.

Forgot to say "Beautiful watch"

Indeed, the heirloom is the most precious. Thanks!

Such a beautiful text and somehow a text I can relate to, notably when you say you want to become like him, I felt that. Have a great day mate and thank you for sharing 🙏🏼

Merci, monsieur. I'm glad it was an encouragement to you. You're welcome, and have a great day too.

Your father had impeccable taste. I never knew my biological father, but that’s more reason for me to be a father to my son that I never had. It’s a wonderful aspect of this hobby to be able to associate someone’s personality through the watches they wore. I hope that one day, hopefully many years from now, my son will wear one of my watches and look back fondly on memories of us together.

I agree, my father did have impeccable taste. Let's endeavor to be the best fathers we can be to our children. 💯

“Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.” – Harvey Mackay

..isn’t that the truth? Becoming a watch enthusiast makes that hit home with even more celerity. Kids. Family. Life. Time. They are here in our orbit one minute, and the next they are quickly passing us like a stranger in a crowd of people. We are purposed to make the most of our time because it is not guaranteed to us. You have my prayers for comfort and remembrance of all the best things regarding your dad. Biblically I am not sure about those in Heaven being able to see us. If they can though, I have no doubt your dad is smiling right now. 🙂

Sorry for the weighty response.

Totally agree with all your words, brother. No apologies needed. It is a good reminder, so as to keep us circumspect about what really matters. Thank you for your prayers. We all fondly remember our Dad with smiles on our faces. We look forward to see him and my Mom when our time comes.

That's a great tribute and I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my father last year and 6 months before that, my mom. Perhaps they were meant for each other right to the end.

Like you, my father handed his favorite watch to me weeks before his passing. It was his daily driver, still ticking but pretty much beaten up. You can see the before and after pics. Being vintage, it took almost 6 months to restore the watch to it's former glory.

Although it sits mostly in my watch box, it never stops ticking coz I wind it almost everyday. I wear this only on special occasions. On the 1st anniversary of my dad's passing, I custom-made a ring with both my parents names engraved. I wear it on the middle finger of my dominant right hand to symbolize strength, balance and conscience.

Enjoy the memories and the beautiful watch brother!

Stunningly, heart warningly, poignant. My condolences. He is proud of you.

Thank you, sir. It's been 3 years already, so we no longer are as grieved by the loss. Mostly smiling now as we recall the many fond memories.

Man, it’s never easy losing our parents, and we hold on dearly and fondly to what was left behind to keep them in our thoughts. Classy watch.

Couldn't have said it any better, sir. Thanks.

Man, that’s beautiful, the watch and the sentiment. It caused my stupid allergies to flair up. 🥹

Thanks, man. The watch is indeed a classy piece. Apologies for the allergen magnet. hehe

Ang classy pala si papa 😊 lol.

Condolences pare.

Love this post. This is what it’s all about - the objects alone are meaningless - the people who had them and the memories attached are what give it meaning.

I am sincerely sorry for your loss - I lost my grandmother 6, nearly 7 years ago and she was more a mother so I know how it must feel.

But it’s amazing that you have this watch to wear, enjoy, remember, create new memories with and pass down eventually and tell ALL those amazing stories about your dad and the journey you’ve been on since.

❤️

Oo, tahimik lang pero may class talaga. Salamat, pare! 2020 pa sya pumanaw, kaya di na kami kasing lungkot ngayon. Mas nakangiti nga habang inaalala namin siya pati Mom ko. 🤝

Indeed, my friend, indeed. Couldn't have said it any better.

We grieve the loss, but it's been 3 years since. So now, we have more joy and thankfulness for their lives, which bring smiles to us in remembrance.

Well said my friend

We will all be there someday as well
