Have you ever attended a RedBar meetup? What’s it like?

Title says it all. There’s a RedBar chapter in my city and I’m thinking of attending. Wondering what people’s experiences have been like.

My impression from what I've seen and read is that there are a lot of nice watches, strong opinions, skinny jeans and neck beards with an occasional pork pie hat in attendence.

·

I love going to red bar. Just a bunch of really cool guys with watches from a large price range and usually hosted at a place with pretty great food.

·

No but I'd like to.

I know a couple folks who’ve gone to events in Denver. I have used the Contact page on the RedBar Web site several times and heard nothing whatsoever in reply… 🦗🦗🦗

I thought I needed an invite but I’ve been ghosted 👻

It probably varies greatly depending on the city but I’ve been to the Baltimore and DC Redbar meetups. Just about everyone is super cool. Lots of the watches were high end but there’s plenty of watches of all kinds there. I’ve also gotten a chance to handle $100,000+ watches at both events which isn’t something I’d typically ever have a chance to do. I say go for it! Worst case is you don’t like it and don’t go back.

Try contacting again but try using the word "dude" as often as you can.

And darn the dry cleaner that lost my pork pie hat! 😉

Curious as well. I don't usually like to talk about my personal life and would much rather talk about just the watches. Is that generally the case?

·

I've been to a few. I've had fun at all of them, but eventually made an Irish exit, because I'm at the age where I want to be in bed by 10:00.

One of the events was early access to our local Rolex AD inventory of certified pre-owned watches. We got a presentation on the process, met the watchmaker overseeing this AD's program, and had first crack at making a purchase. It was pretty neat.

The other gatherings have been dinner, coffee, or drinks with lots of watches.

They think you're that Neil.

I was fortunate enough to close down the original red bar in NYC one night with Adam Craniotes and some random drunken Japsnese tourist back in 2011. Those days were a lot of fun. Crazy to think that there are red bar groups all over the world now.

Well, the other Neils are famous. They definitely get more respect! That Neil, on the other hand,…you may be right. 🤔😉

I really enjoy RedBar and other watch get togethers. Good people, great watch conversation and a chance to try on all kinds of watches I'd generally never get to see in person or have on the wrist.
