Today I’m reviewing the Vaer S5 Calendar Field White Watch that I bought back in December. Now that I’ve lived with the watch for a few months, I have a sense of how it performs. I was initially intrigued by the looks of the watch, but what hooked and reeled me in was the question posed on Vaer’s website: “What's the best outdoor watch we could make for under $200?” Let’s dig in.

Great review! I recently picked up a Vaer S3, and also though it was a great watch for the person looking for a "one watch" solution for outdoors and casual wear.
Nice review. I picked up a Vaer DS4 Meridian during their sale last year and it has become a favorite.

Thanks so much, Kristian! It definitely has exceeded my expectations and makes me remember the 3-4 years I rocked a Weekender nonstop. It's becoming an easy grab from the case these days.
Really solid review! I concur that this is a great watch. This is the first piece that I purchased from Vaer and I've purchased two other pieces since then.

I got mine during a sale, too, Matthew. My impulse control only extends so far 😂. I'd like to check some of their other offerings out soon.

I fight the same thing myself all the time! 🤣
p.s. don't look at Redwood Watches if you have impulse control problems. Great value and prices.

Thanks so much, Christopher. I've been liking it more and more as the weeks pass (and I buy even more straps for it 🤣). What other Vaer pieces have you picked up? I can't stop eyeing the new chronos.

I. Can. Resist! 🥹

I got "into" watches a few years ago, and went away from quartz, which I had been wearing for a couple of decades. Over the last year most of my purchases have been quartz... They are just so convenient, and in the case of the S3, slim.

That black dial is 🔥 and it's funny to me how often I pick a quartz so I don't have to mess with setting it. I've been trying to remember that there is no "right" way and just to buy watches I like. Now if only I had unlimited funds - I wouldn't buy a luxe piece but I have about 20 sub $1k ones I'd like.

I have two other quartz watches that steal a lot of wrist time as well...

The chronos didn't resonate with me at first but I think they're starting to speak to me. 😬
But to answer your question, here are the Vaer pieces that I own.
S5 Calendar Field 40mm shown here on a leather Nato style strap.
S5 Traditional 40mm on Oyster style bracelet.
DS4 Meridian 38mm on a jubilee style bracelet.
I love this brand. Specs are great. Aesthetically, they're appealing. Build quality is fantastic. Functionally, they totally fit my lifestyle. And best of all, none of them break the bank. #vaer
Solid review. I have the smaller S3 and a Vaer C5 Solar. The solar aspect is just so convenient and practical.

Oh man. Ok I just got a "bond" strap in the mail today so seeing that made my night. And I am fairly certain I will have to buy the solar edition of that Momentum "Mangum" watch when it comes out in a few days. Great shots! We have similar taste so you are giving me some eye candy!!

These all look great. I'm definitely becoming a fanboy of Vaer. I think I overlooked that Traditional but it's so nice!!!

Thank you! I like a big watch so hadn't looked much at the smaller versions. I love that Vaer offer both so there is something for everyone. I feel like a solar watch has to be my next purchase. Now if I can just pick ONE 🤣🤣
