Seiko 38.5 Solar. Modern take on what the 50's Submariner was. Straightforward, affordable, readily available, every day, every man dive watch.
MSRP in the 50's for the Submariner, was $150-ish mas o menos. Means $1,500US-ish today. Maybe not every day affordable, but still within grasp for a good chunk of the "gen-pop" with some saving. Also actually available which means cheaper used options too.
I love the land tortoise; it’s very large and legible while also being compact when worn. With that said, the solar dive watch is also an excellent choice. I’d say whatever you do pick, pick up the other one later on.
