Review: Breitling Superocean Heritage 2 - 42mm

It was my first watch and what drew me to this piece was the green dial.

In my opinion, to find a striking green dial on a COSC luxury watch is a little tricky. If you can afford a Hulk go for it. But i couldnt. This left me with the Omega Seamaster in “Seaweed” green, which is far from striking unless you are in the right lighting. Hence, the decision to pull the trigger on this one.

Aside from the colour - i was mindful of the “in house movement” warfare. This doesnt have an in house movement, but has one that is made by Tudor. Tudor took the chronograph movement from Breitling (B01) and in exchange handed over the base movement used in the Black Bay. I found that cool since i appreciate Tudor as a brand.

Grab the damn thing for a discount at your AD. Breitling wont offer a discount, but find an AD that will go anywhere between 15-20% off. This makes it more enticing to purchase over its contenders. I was fortunate enough to get an 18% discount which dropped it a lot closer to the price of a new Black Bay 58. This was also way cheaper than an Omega Seamaster.

The contender aside from the Seamaster was a Black Bay 58 in black. Now, i didnt know the watch game was going to take me onto a journey of purchasing 500 watches. So i went for a ceramic bezel and the pretty colour assuming it would be my only luxury watch.

It is definitely on the luxury side and less on the modern sporty diver side.

My recommendation would be, if youre not looking for a tool watch and respect the underdog vibe - then this would be the pick.

It certainly has more presence than an Omega Seamaster Heritage.

Thank you very much!

Nice review Andrew. 👏. I would give wearability higher marks. I have the larger model but still with the Milanese rubber bracelet and it feels great on the wrist due to less weight.

The dial is stunning in different lighting conditions! Simply beautiful!

Ahaha you have a point 😂

I chose my SO chrono over a Tudor Pelagos. I certainly don’t regret the decision - the SO is bling a f.

I still covet a Tudor though …

Dont worry about street cred. If you like the watch, wear it and enjoy it. I have been in this hobby for only 2+ years and outside of watch groups on the internet, random people on the streets dont give a flying fook what you have on your wrist. 😄
