I won a watch! And all you got was this lousy post.

First off, the only other thing I've ever won before this is the NCAA office pool back in 2013. Swear to God, I let the CBS Sports site auto-pick for me. I love low-skill wagering.

If you remember the original post from 2 weeks ago, the lovely and talented @Edge168n decided to donate a Wise Adamascus AD851A to anyone on WC who could donate at least $15 to charity. Coincidentally a friend in Tech in Boston was at that very moment soliciting donations for Tech Tackles Cancer - Boston (https://techtacklesx.org/ttc-boston/) chapter for an event coming up in November. On a serendipitous whim I screen captured my receipt and posted it to Edge's charity post.

And WOOT, I won!

I'm new here, but to give you a little insight, my watch collecting is highly focused on cheap older/vintage watches. I am highly unlikely to spend a lot of bread on a single watch. Not that I don't love and appreciate pricier new timepieces, maybe even lust after them, but it's not my modus operandi at this juncture.

That said, I am THRILLED to be the owner of this watch. It is so sweet. The unboxing...

A very slick wooden case with the routed logo of Wise on top.

Nestled inside, the AD851A sporting a rubber strap.

I've never owned a diver before. This is my first one.

I was a little concerned that it would look too big, or wear too big, but I think it is right on the money. It's very comfortable. I think the red strap goes great with the red face. The dial has a wonderful criss-cross thatch pattern that creates a vertical pattern that reminds me of the teeth on a bulldozer bucket.

@Edge168n is clearly a proper collector, he had all the box materials, even the case-back sticker stored in the box. It came with a strap tool, extra spring bar pins, and a dark leather strap as well, plus the warranty card. It even had instructions on that QR code on how to set and wind an Automatic Watch:

Anybody read Thai? Me neither. I'll figure it out.

But seriously, I really love this watch. I will be sharing this many, many times on WRUW. Thank you so much @Edge168n and thanks to all the other Crunchers who participated and donated to charity. I will certainly be donating again, you can count on it. Thank you for the warm welcome to the community as well. I am really enjoying my time here.

Best,

Cris

Very happy for you. Well deserved and enjoy the watch. Glad it found a good home

Congrats! Well earned, like your NCAA office pool!

·

You are awesome! Thank you for wagering up for charitable endeavour and congratulations again for winning.

I get "circuit board" more than "bulldozer track" for the dial but it's a stunner regardless!

Wear it in good health and welcome to the Crunch!

And for everyone else who felt they missed out....stay tuned! I have another one of these planned for the holiday season!

We should always appreciate watches that we get for free! 😀
