being a vostok....heh see how it goes
as you can see I already got it open
the watches problem is the seconds hand fouls on the minites hand between 6-11
my plan it to drop the movement out of the case and as I've seen some do just bend the seconds hand upwards.
if i had one of those hand setting tools would try that too...but working with what i have.
got some vostok disassembley vids qued up. We'll see how it goes. If I cock it up no big deal.
also the spring bars are wierd and greasy

You got this!
Hey hey hey…I can relate!!! This was my first (and only) attempt. The fist watch I got, I got it so I could open it and mess with it…at some point, the date wheel misaligned and I successfully fixed it!!!
Good luck although I don't think you'll need it.
One of the reasons I wanted a diy watch. Learning experience.
Broken vostok will do though.
I would leave the second hand off if it was mine. Makes for a cleaner look.
is this an older one or new? If new, idk why the spring bars would be greasy. Hopefully you’ll be able to get this fixed.
Btw ,if you haven’t already, definitely make a Watchuseek account. Their Russian Watches threads are a gold mine for technical stuff about Soviet and post-Soviet watches—and just for technical stuff in general.

no idea the age...bought it from amazon three-ish years ago and unlike my first from russia got it in one week.
i'm guessing the seller was buying in the US to sell on
perhaps modding em a bit too as i have yet to see vostok with a half decent nato strap
it started failing right quick too without any knocks...unlike my russian sourced one
by failing i mean the hand set was falling down from the pivot(?)
i know this now from taking it out of the case and watching it with a loupe
seconds were going up and down through the sweep but so were the minutes
i'm sure my ham fistedness didn't help but i couldn't get the hands right
movement works fine though
good learning experience though
also the greasy bars ... i smelled it at first
if you've ever pulled an axle out of motorcycle thats been sitting a while
....i don't know...melted pencil?
