It was when I saw a skeletonized Fossil watch with the mainspring being exposed. It was at that moment I knew I was thoroughly, financially screwed. The beginning of the end.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
G-Shock. Always rugged, functional, over-engineered while being cool as hell.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
Exited my first startup and bought the Oris Aquis. It's not much but in Malaysia that was a huge chunk of money for someone who just graduated university. Never bought such an expensive watch in my life. It'll always be a keeper in my collection to commemorate that time of my life.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Load up on your financials and just buy what you like/what you think you like. It's a hobby where you'll discover your ever-changing taste for watches. Most fulfilling when bought to commemorate a certain milestone in life.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Independent watchmakers, mainly German. Damasko, D. Dornbluth & Son, Sinn, Hanhart, Nomos, Kudoke and etc.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Can't think of any, really. Really happy with my small but varied collection of watches.
