The movie 8 Mile featuring Eminem made Eight Mile famous (for everyone but Detroiters). Some facts about the movie/Eminem:
Eight Mile (8 Mile): Nothing nefarious about Eight Mile other than it's the border between Detroit and the suburbs.
Mobile Home Park: Nothing wrong with mobile home parks, however the one depicted in the movie was not on the Detroit side of Eight Mile but Warren. Their was a mobile home park on the east side of Detroit, specifically along Gratiot Avenue but was leveled in the early 90's. Long before the movie was shot.
Eminem: Greatest rapper ever!
Runyon Ave.: He mentions living on Runyon Ave. No such thing as "Ave". When I moved to Detroit my father purchased a Tudor home on Runyon (no Ave. or St. on the sign). Runyon starts at Six Mile Road and ends between Seven and Eight Mile Road. He only lived their for a very short period of time.
Osborn High School: I graduated from Osborn High...he attended when he lived on Runyon, roughly six months or so...

If you ever visit Detroit stay at the new Shinola hotel located downtown. Every room is curated differently with restaurants and it's flagship store.

Wow some great behind the scenes info and thanks for shout out. Eminem is great for sure but the lyrical stylings of Biggie Smalls, Tupac, Snoop, Dre, DMX might make a claim for the GOAT title.
