Review of the Bremont WR22

This is the quickest watch I have ever bought, and by that definition the fastest £6000 I have spent, and therefore the most money on an unplanned, impulse purchase (as in I wasn't at all planning to buy a watch).

I was invited to The Wing, Bremont's HQ, for a n evening with the Bremont co-founders hosting the Williams F1 team...funnily enough my calendar was somehow free that day.

I hadn't seen the watch until we walked through the door and upon seeing it, instantly said I'd have it and ordered one on the spot.

Now, that is pretty unusual for me. I don't tend to make random uninformed decisions. I didn't know anything about the watch, when I agreed to purchase it...I'm not even entirely sure I knew its price; but sometimes, some things in life get you like that. Your heart makes a decision before your brain.

Malcolm Gladwell is an American author and he wrote a book called 'Blink' (I highly recommend you read it) and sometimes you just know shit and you make a snap decision 'just because'.

To try to rationalise why is to try to put logic and rationale to an illogical and somehow irrational situation. That is [very] basically the premise of the book and the premise to how and why I bought this watch; at that time, in that moment, ai just knew I had to have it and that I would be able to afford it.

I call this my prettiest watch, that is mainly due to the white dial which really pops, especially with the slightly retro-esque vibe from the blue and black sub-dial colours and red second hand. I really love how the date window is incorporated into the sub dial, but I less like how - or understand why - there is a tiny button on the side of the watch case to advance the date (without just winding the watch forward).

The alcantara strap is the same material you'd get on a proper sports car steering wheel, and that is how the F1 drivers wear it, or how I wear this watch in the summer, but I don't tend to wear black shoes or belts, so I really must purchase a brown alcantara watch strap from somewhere. More often that not, I'm going to wear it on a metal bracelet, but I don't tend to do the bracelet changing myself, which is the only strap watch where ai outsource the changing of the bracelet to strap...I've never figured out how to do this myself on this piece!

As with most non EQ300 in house movement Bremonts, I don't really give a shit what movement is in actually in the watch, but it certainly looks pretty with the exhibition caseback and tiny blue screws. I am slightly less enthusiastic about the Williams F1 logo on the rotar, but I suppose they had to get that in somewhere! Word on

The watch itself is 200m water resistant, which means it qualifies for me as a 'holiday' watch and it looks equally at home wearing shirt and chinos or jeans and tshirt.

  • Date window incorporated into sub dials
  • Despite loving F1, I'm slightly less than indifferent about Williams F1 logo being emblazoned on the rotor
  • Date advancement button
  • No micro-adjustment on the metal bracelet

Really good looking watch,I tried one on a few months ago and agree the white dial is amazing better than the Tudor panda GMT,only reason I didn't get one is because I had purchased another watch ,I do own the U2 so can attest to the quality

Beautiful. Not many Bremont fans / owners out there I don't think. I quite like this Williams collab. They've done it subtly and tastefully I feel. Any thoughts coming out of the Wing Tour? Also, congrats on your purchase, it's a beauty.

The Wing tour is absolutely fascinating. Our Team also did the watch making thing and it was genuinely one of the best days of my life

I thought the tour was utterly brilliant. I find it odd that so many people don't like Bremont.

Some people just want to be wankers. Keeps the Hodinkee fanboys entertained and engaged with negative vibes to propel them throughout their miserable days.
