1st quarter 2024 additions

The first quarter of 2024 has come and gone in a blink of an eye. After a doubling in my number of watches from 8 to 16 in the last quarter of 2023, I wanted to slow things down in 2024. But I have now added 4 watches in just the first 3 months of the year. I have to say I am very happy with each of my purchases. I am now eyeing just 1 more watch for this year. Will be tough to resist, but I already have a few pieces in mind for 2025.

The 4 additions so far this year:

1. Seiko 6139 Pogue - This is a special watch as it is my birth month watch. Managed to find one produced on my birth month in relative good condition and had to jump on it. I like the vintage look, the yellow dial, and the space history. It is a perfect birth month watch for me.

2. Seiko Sarb017 Alpinist - Have always liked the look of this watch and managed to find a brand new unworn piece at a very reasonable price. It is a handsome watch and that dial is gorgeous.

3. San Martin Year of the Dragon - Preordered thisnlast year actually but received it this year. It was my first San Martin and I am impressed at the quality to price ratio of this watch. Love the red textured dial, the Chinese elements, and the dragon elements of the watch. As a Chinese born in the year of the dragon, this was a watch I had to have.

4. Seiko SCVF007 Red Alpinist - I love the look of the alpinist. And even thoughbi already have the popular green dial Sarb017, I couldn't resist this one when I found this one. The original alpinist with this design language, a high beat 4 hz movement, smaller and thinner case size, and the cream dial is absolutely spot on for me. And the fact that I found this 25 year old watch in practically pristine condition was just the icing on the cake. I almost couldn't bear to wear it for fear of scratching it. But this one is just absolutely gorgeous!

I am probably done with Seikos for a while now. Have spent somewhat more than what i would like on these 3 vintage/discontinued seiko watches. But I love them all and I have no regrets. I tried to buy the Mission to Moonphase, but didnt manage tonget one. Probably a good thing. Have to really pace myself now. As mentioned I have one more planned purchase in May and I hope that will be all for 2024.
