It has been a good while since I acquired a “serious” watch. And have been on the fence of getting a new piece, adding various models to my wishlist. There was the Citizen NY0084, a Kermit/Starbucks dial diver, the Timex Q Chronograph Panda dial, classic looks but the secondary market is a bit annoying (and the wife thinks it’s too generic), as well as several Seikos and Orients too as my budget was around the 300$ mark.
Then I came across this gem, which stuck out in model and especially dial color. I’ve been watching watch reviews for the good part of a few years now, and have been seeing videos of the aforementioned watches, but can’t seem to find a video on this specific Sugess. Not that it matters too much, but the physical store was out of town, so all I could hope on was online photos and videos which were scarce. I’m not that much of a spec geek, but I do love knowing how a watch would look on the wrist.
Finally did pull the trigger, and when I opened the watch box, just loved it. Yeah it might be a lazy homage (it’s similar to a Heuer Carrera) and is basically the dial of the El Premiro homage by Sugess, but put in the Seagull 1963 case, but I love it nonetheless. The green is deep enough to be versatile, and changing the strap from the very stiff green canvas to a black leather strap elevates the watch more.
Will come around to do a review in the coming days after a week or so of wearing. But first impressions is meeting my expectations. An awesome little piece

Nice! From AliX? I've been looking a little at some of those ST19 watches as well. I'd love to try the movement, but can't get around the Chinese Army look of the Seagull Chrono - just not my thing. I was looking a blue Surgess, but this one looks nice!
How do you find the movement? Winding feel ok? Keeping time well?
Thanks!
Yeah it’s from AliX but got it from a local reseller in my country. Import taxes are a pain so prefer to go around it.
Agree, I know the Chinese Army dial is the classic but I just can’t see myself wearing it and feeling like I’m representing the Chinese Army or something 😅 I was also looking at the homage of the Blancpain which has a rotating bezel, but the size was a bit too big also the bezel is 24 click which is odd for a non GMT.
The movement is alright, keeping time well and looking at it through the caseback is satisfying. It’s still accurate as of now wearing it for a day and a half, and the winding feel is smoother than I’d thought. A bit used to a more ratchety manual wind movement. Also on the 3 subdial version, the 6 o’clock is a bit pointless as it’s a 12 hour marker (basically an extra hour hand that’s non adjustable) wish it was a power reserve indicator would’ve been better with the manual movement.
But I just really love the look of this watch, even more after seeing it in person. To be honest have been eyeing this watch for almost a year before finally pulling the trigger on it 😊
I do own a sugess bicompax white panda and it's a really nice watch you can get for a bargain. It's the only mechanical chrono under 1k$, and probably also under 2k$. Is it the most accurate movement available ? No, but you dont buy mechanical for accuracy. I got it from the official Suggess store on aliexpress, shipping went smooth. Try one, for the price its a bargain
