The Tudor Black Bay Ceramic and its Strap

I have seen many reports of people being unhappy about the leather/rubber strap provided by Tudor for the Black Bay Ceramic.

Too stiff, hurtful, not sturdy, easily ripped, ... Tudor missed a point there.

So have spent a good amount of time to look for straps that would work both aesthetically and functionally with this amazing watch.

Among the key winners so far:

One strap I disliked here:

  • Erika's MN because the material is not comfortable, pricey, because there are Chinese alternatives which means that the buckles she sells are likely made there, and because why not using "MN" without any affiliation to the French Marine Nationale whatsoever ?

What did you find ? What is your daily wear on the BB Ceramic ?

Thanks for the detailed rundown. How would you describe the difference between NickMankey and Erikas in terms of material?

When I visited the stand alone Tudor boutique here in Toronto to place my name on a list for the new Ranger as well as the Pelagos FXD, the sales agents shared some info about the popularity of certain models mentioning the strap that comes with the black ceramic as a factor in slow sales of that model. I bought the ceramic watch sight unseen from another shop during lock downs caused by covid 19, have experienced no concerns but do mostly wear it with the OEM fabric for a preferred appearance. A young guy that I know who works for another ad wears his ceramic exclusively with the leather/ rubber complaining that is a bit short which might be my criticism of the hybrid strap also. Finally persons from all 3 boutiques believe Tudor could/ should improve their hybrid straps, a similar strap is fitted to the PO1 which does not enjoy any secondary strap options and might sell better with a bracelet.

When new, Erika’s and Nick’s are similar products but Erika’s degraded quickly over time and it’s texture rapidly becomes close to a cheese grater on your wrist.

So comfort-wise, Nick is a clear winner: softer, better material, better finish and lower price.

Thank you! It appears that the main drawback of Nick's straps is the extended waiting period, which is 12-14 weeks as listed on his website.

Nice write up. I really find their hybrid strap comfortable. My issue with the specific one for the ceramic is it was too long.

This is true, one needs patience. But it is worth the wait and delivery is faster than advertised.

This is why I resorted to ABP with the Tudor clasp -a MUST TRY-, so comfortable!!! But also the original Tropic for more sports occasions (hiking, diving, …).

But really for the Office, kudos to ABP !

I hate the standard leather/rubber strap on the BB Ceramic. I put mine on the provided jacquard fabric strap.
