The Timex Enigma

Hey, watch aficionados! Help me unravel the mystery of Timex โ€“ a brand with a rich legacy, quality craftsmanship, and diverse designs, yet often overlooked in the watch community. But why? Personally I love Timex but feel people think Timex as a joke. I'm relatively new to watch collecting and don't know why it's this way. If Timex had a watch costing thousands of dollars would people feel differently? Timex's Legacy: With over a century and a half of history, Timex has pioneered affordable mechanical and digital watches, earning a place in horological history. Despite its durability and precision, not to mention its famous idiglo feature, why does Timex struggle to gain respect in the watch community? Quality Craftsmanship: Timex is renowned for its reliability and attention to detail. But does the perception of luxury overshadow the undeniable craftsmanship of Timex watches? Diverse Designs: From classic elegance to rugged functionality, Timex offers a watch for every style. Yet, do preconceptions about price tags hinder appreciation for their diverse designs? What are your thoughts on Timex as a brand? Do you believe luxury status should determine respect within the watch community? Share your insights and experiences.

Nope.

Just look at the Timex Marlin, the Todd Snyder collabs, the fantastically designed Q and Q GMT, etc.

Other places might dig on them, but most watch enthusiasts get excited over some good ol Timex.

The only thing I wish they'd do is a Vietnam Camper field reissue. Like an exact reissue, no case changes. Keep the acrylic. Out of a lot of the brands that have "issued" style field watches, Timex is one of the few that has an actual claim to "authenticity".

Personally I just want an affordable, Indiglo, acrylic, Q with battery hatch on the caseback for easy changes.

They'd sell buckets.

And now for an example of the cool and affordable stuff Timex does. The Timex Midget.
