Omega 2254 Stopped keeping Time

Hey Crunchers,

Wanted to get your opinion. Just recieved my much lusted after Omega 2254.50 from Chrono24 yesterday. Been in love since the moment I got it but just a bit ago I noticed the second hand had completely stopped. Its had been running fine overnight and was on my wrist all day so should have been fully charged. Only after I started shaking a little and then also winding it back up manually again did it begin to move. This doesnt seem quite right to me and has me a little worried. Should I just cut it lose and go back for a refund? Or perhaps have someone take a look at it first? Still have a bit of time since it just arrived.

I'm assuming the watch is over 10 years old? Could be due a service if it's not already had one? See how it goes but if it needs servicing that could be expensive and you could lose the watch for some time. If a trade dealer I would ask them to get it sorted.

Correct its a 2006 model so well over 10 years. Was probably going to have my watch guy takw a peek at it and see if thats really what it is before making any decisions. Had already budgeted in an eventual service into this so wouldnt be the worst news to hear I guess

I’d let the seller know asap so that he doesn’t have chance to blame you for breaking it. Also that you may want him to pay for any potential repair, assuming it was sold as being in full working condition.

I have the same early 2000 watch. It was working fine, but I sent it in for its first service in 2022 anyway. It cost about 750 buck and took 4 months. Well worth it as it came back looking great.
